The procedure
Anesthesia
An anesthetic doctor will examine you the day of surgery to determine which type of anesthesia is better for you
The Surgery
In 99% of cases the surgery will be performed with ultrasound energy commonly called phacoemulsification of the cataract .
The surgery usually takes between 10-15 min depending on the type of cataract.
An IOL(intra ocular lens) will be placed at the end of the procedure (the type of the IOL and the Brand will be discussed before the surgery at your preop evaluation ).
In most cases the procedure is sutureless (SELF SEALING INCISION).
Premium IOL Versus Standard IOL
After removing the cataract ,we have the choice of putting a standard IOL (MAKING YOU SEE ONLY DISTANCE VISION) OR other types of lenses called premium lenses (FOR DISTANCE/INTERMEDIATE AND NEAR VISION ).
The type of IOL will be discussed before surgery .
