What are the advantages of Laser Cataract surgery ?
Laser incision has been found to seal better than an incision made with a blade, which results in better healing.
In laser cataract surgery, less energy goes into the phacoemulsification process than with traditional cataract surgery. This decrease in ultrasound energy may reduce inflammation and swelling of the front part of the eye (cornea) that can affect vision.
Before your surgery

About a week before your surgery, we will do some tests to measure the size and shape of your eye. These tests help your eye doctor choose the right kind of artificial lens (called an intraocular lens, or IOL). - Use special eye drops. Your eye doctor may prescribe these eye drops to help protect your eye from getting an infection.

Stop taking some medications. Tell your eye doctor about any medications you take. If you take a medication that could cause bleeding during your surgery, your eye doctor may ask you to stop taking it for a little while. -

Clean your eyelids and eye lashes. Your eye doctor may have you clean your eyelids and eyelashes with baby shampoo the night before and the morning of your surgery to get rid of any germs that could cause an infection.

Cataract surgery only takes 10 to 15 minutes, but you could be at the facility for a few hours. The extra time is used for preparation, post-surgery evaluation and recovery instructions.

Cataract treatment can make your eyes more sensitive to light while they recover. It’s important to wear dark sunglasses outside after surgery. Some facilities will give you special glasses to take home.
